Your GPA, right on your Canvas dashboard.

A free browser extension that works out each course's grade from the assignments on your Canvas pages, then adds up your overall GPA. It runs by itself whenever you open Canvas.

3,400+ people use it. Rated 4.8 out of 5 on the Chrome Web Store.

Recorded on a Canvas grades page with the student details replaced. The extension's settings popup opens partway through.

What it does

Course grades
Calculated from each course's published assignments, using the category weights when the course has them.
Overall GPA
Shown on your dashboard, on a 4-point scale by default. Switch to the 12-point scale in settings.
Letter grades
Shown next to each percentage. You can turn them off.
Rounding
Round grades up by as much as 0.5%, if your teachers count an 89.6 as a 90.
Which courses count
Leave a course out of your GPA from the Tracked Courses list.
Better Canvas
If you use Better Canvas, this replaces its GPA calculator so the two don't show different numbers.

One permission: storage

The extension asks your browser for one permission, which it uses to remember your course grades between visits. It can't read your browsing history, your passwords, or other sites. There's no server behind it, so your grades never leave your browser.

You can check this in the manifest or the source code.

Questions

Why doesn't it match the GPA my school reports?

Every course counts equally, and honors or AP classes don't get extra points. On the 4-point scale, any A counts as 4.0, including an A-, and any B counts as 3.0. The 12-point scale keeps the plus and minus steps. Your school may also weight courses by credits, so treat this number as a close estimate.

Will it work with my school's Canvas?

It works if your Canvas address ends in instructure.com, like yourschool.instructure.com. Schools that run Canvas on their own domain aren't supported yet.
